On Friday February 23rd, the presentation of the Move Your Fingers on the piano method took place at the Alicia de Larrocha Auditorium Room of the Marshall Academy in Barcelona. Andoni Elías accompanied by Marta Zabaleta made the presentation of the new pedagogical method for piano teachers.

After the talk there was a demonstration of the pieces on the piano that belonged to Frederic Mompou. The teachers had the opportunity to read the pieces of Move Your Fingers on the piano while listening to them and were amazed by the new rhythms and harmonies.

The Marshall Academy was founded in 1901 by the composer and pianist Enric Granados. After his death, he was succeeded in conducting by his disciple Frank Marshall, teacher of the great pianist Alicia de Larrocha, who was the one who succeeded him as director. This, in her last years, left the academy in the hands of her student and current director, the pianist Marta Zabaleta.

The St. George’s English School Bilbao has provided, since 1956, a very complete training to its students, which includes music for the integral education of students.

On Thursday May 23rd, I was with the piano students, invited by their excellent teacher Aurkene Núñez, who teaches them music with Move Your Finger on the piano.

Everyone wanted to play their favorite pieces, which, in addition, they had performed a few days before at the school concert. They knew them perfectly and enjoyed playing a lot. They were extremely curious about the creation process, they wanted to know how music is composed and written, from the moment you come up with an idea, a musical motif, until it is shaped and finished. They asked a lot of very insightful and pertinent questions, it shows that they are used to thinking, expressing themselves by speaking and learning the subjects in practice.

The truth is that we had a wonderful and very educational morning, both playing the piano together and talking about music.

On Wednesday, May 16, there was a talk-presentation of the Move Your Fingers on the piano method to the piano and musical language teachers of the Andrés Isasi Music School in Getxo, where it will already be used for the next course .
